Chain of Custody (COC/CCF/ePassport)

Chain of Custody

A Chain of Custody form, also known as a Custody control Form, is a legal protocol describing the documentation of specimen transfer from the time of collection until final disposition.

The Chain of Custody is a written record of specimen transfer (from patient to analyst then to storage and disposal) maintained on all specimens. All drug tests, or any other tests that have medicolegal (relating to medicine and law) significance should be accompanied by a Chain of Custody.

ePassport

eScreen’s employment drug testing software is the first to incorporate an electronic chain of custody, eCCF®. It automatically sends instructions about the drug screen, which we refer to as an ePassport®, to the donor with all the details about the event—even a map. This convenient feature also allows us to track missed events, monitor the time of the collection and follow donor/specimen status online.
